Is Molokai crowded?
No, not at all. It is a very quiet and rural island. It's like Kaua'i used to be. There is no traffic and you can still see the stars at night.
How far away is Kaluapapa where Father Damien lived?
The Kalaupapa peninsula and Kalawao county is visible from the Kalaupapa lookout, about 15 minutes from the condo. Tours of the area are available, reservations are required. Access to Kaluapapa is available via hiking, horseback or flights.
Is the golf course closed?
Yes, it is closed for now. Ironwood golf course is still open. It is located about 20 miles East.
How safe/swimmable is the beach you are in walking distance from?
The beach that is close to us is Kepuhi Beach and is safe in the summer months. In the winter months the surf can get high and I would recommend driving to another West Molokai Beach called Dixie Maru, where there is a protected cove and a safe swimming beach.
How long is the drive from Town, groceries and the "famous bakery."
It takes about half an hour to get to Kaunakakai which is the main town (about 22 miles away). Maunaloa Town which has the Kite Shop, Post Office and Maunaloa General Store is about 10 minutes away.
What exactly is the Ocean view like?
Its Great. Awe inspiring and incredible. Guests comment that the condo and view are better than what's depicted on the internet.
Is there a store nearby?
There is a giftshop and a convenience store within walking distance. There is a general store about 10 min. away in Maunaloa town. (closed on Sundays)
